腱鞘炎　ローズマッサージ

腱鞘炎に対して痛みのある部位に鍼とローズマッサージで治療いたしました。ローズの香りには鎮静・鎮痛作用があります。

芳香療法（アロマセラピー）の効果は緩和医療にも用いられます。痛みを感じるのは脳であり、におい分子の情報は最終的には脳に作用するため、この働きを応用すれば痛みを緩和したり、痛みによる精神的な苦痛を和らげたりすることが可能だと考えられます。脳に痛みの情報が伝わると、セロトニンなどの「痛み物質」とプロスタグランジンなどの「痛み物質の作用を強める物質」の２つが発生します。

鎮痛剤はこれらの発生を抑えることで、痛みを軽減したり、なくしたりしています。つまり、傷ついた部分に働きかけているのではなく、痛みを感じる本体である脳に作用するのです。このように傷ついた部分と脳の間の情報伝達の通路にゲート（関門）を設けて痛みをコントロールする仕組みを「痛覚のゲートコントロール」と呼んでいます。

精油の場合は、匂いの情報は脳に直接届くので、鎮痛剤と同様にゲートコントロールにより痛みを和らげることができると考えられます。さらに患部にローズマッサージを行うと、さすったりする弱い皮膚刺激によって痛みのゲートが閉まり、それによっても痛みが和らぎます。つまり、痛みの緩和にローズの香りの鎮痛作用と、皮膚刺激による鎮痛作用という二重の痛みの緩和作用が働きます。

Aromatherapy is also used in palliative medicine. Since it is the brain that perceives pain and the information of smell molecules ultimately affects the brain, it is thought that this function can be applied to alleviate pain and relieve the mental distress caused by pain. When information about pain is transmitted to the brain, two substances are generated: "pain substances" such as serotonin and "substances that intensify the action of pain substances" such as prostaglandins.

Painkillers reduce or eliminate pain by suppressing the generation of these substances. In other words, they do not act on the injured part, but on the brain, which is the body that feels pain. This mechanism of controlling pain by establishing a gate (barrier) in the pathway of information transmission between the injured part and the brain is called "gate control of pain perception.

In the case of essential oils, since the information from the smell reaches the brain directly, it is thought to be able to relieve pain through gate control in the same way as painkillers. Furthermore, when rose massage is given to the affected area, weak skin stimulation, such as rubbing, closes the pain gate, thereby also relieving pain. In other words, a dual pain-relieving action is at work: the analgesic action of the rose fragrance and the analgesic action of the skin stimulation.
